Vigo's summer festivals spark Cuban celebration and double accommodation prices
A free Cuban-themed festival organized by Vibra en Clave will take place on Sunday, 2 August at Praia da Xunqueira in Moaña, near the Ría de Vigo. The event will run for eleven hours, featuring live music, DJ sets, Cuban food stalls, cocktail bars and a series of workshops including salsa dancing. Entry is free and the programme includes a vermú reception, performances by Habana Café Son, and multiple dance and music workshops.
At the same time, the O Marisquiño urban sports and youth culture festival is turning Vigo into a hub for extreme‑sports enthusiasts. The surge in visitors has sharply reduced the supply of short‑term rentals, with fewer than 100 apartments available for the festival weekend. Prices have jumped from the usual €170 per night to about €350, effectively doubling the cost for tourists. Hotels such as the NH Collection Vigo expect full occupancy, with the city’s overall accommodation occupancy already near 91% for August.
