Vijayanand Travels orders 150 Volvo luxury sleeper coaches

Vijayanand Travels Private Limited (VTPL), a part of the VRL Group, has placed a landmark order for 150 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches with Volvo Buses India. This transaction is reported to be the largest single order placed by a private bus operator with Volvo Buses India, which will also make VTPL the private operator with the highest Volvo bus count in the country.

Shiva Sankeshwar, Director of Vijayanand Travels, stated that the investment is intended to drive growth rather than serve as a simple fleet replacement cycle. While a small portion of the coaches will replace older models, the majority are intended to increase capacity, allow the company to enter new states, and open new travel corridors.

The expansion follows a shift in the Indian intercity travel market, where passenger demand for comfort and reliability has increased significantly. VTPL plans to utilize the new fleet to increase frequency on existing routes and expand its footprint across South, West, and Central India.
