Vijayanand Travels Volvo bus fleet expansion

Vijayanand Travels has placed a record-breaking order for 150 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches from Volvo Buses India. This transaction marks the largest single order Volvo Buses has received from a private bus operator in India.

The new fleet features a two-tier design with 40 sleeping berths and 8.5 cubic meters of luggage space, with approximately half the vehicles equipped with onboard toilets. The buses are powered by 350-horsepower 8-liter D8K engines and utilize I-Shift automated transmission. Production is slated for the VE Commercial Vehicles plant in Hoskote.

Company leadership indicated that the investment is intended to drive growth and increase capacity rather than serving as a simple fleet replacement. The expansion aims to allow the company to enter new states and open new travel corridors across South, West, and Central India, including service on the long-distance route between Bangalore and Jodhpur.
