Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple hosts Dasara festivities
The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri Hill in Vijayawada is hosting the annual Dasara Sharannavaratri celebrations. During the festivities, the presiding deity, Goddess Kanaka Durga, is adorned in various forms each day.
On the second day of celebrations, over 120,000 devotees gathered for the Gayatri Devi Alankaram. On the fourth day, the goddess was adorned as Sri Maha Chandi Devi. The festival, observed during the lunar month of Ashwin, involves elaborate rituals, fasting, and traditional dances.
To manage the large influx of pilgrims, authorities have implemented high-tech security and monitoring measures, including AI-enabled cameras, drones, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. Local officials and the Endowments Commissioner are coordinating crowd management, sanitation, and security to ensure safe passage for devotees.
