Vijayendra alleges cover-up in Hanur forest encounter

Karnataka BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra has alleged a cover-up by the state government regarding a forest encounter in Hanur taluk, Chamarajanagar district, which occurred on August 15. The incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals: Anthony Swamy, John Rose Peter, and Sebastian David Kumar.

Vijayendra claims the deceased had no criminal backgrounds or history of habitual offenses. He has raised concerns regarding the transparency of the investigation, specifically questioning why the post-mortem reports have not been released to the public. He cited ballistic expert opinions suggesting the victims were shot from close range, rather than from a distance.

Additionally, Vijayendra has called for clarification on the whereabouts of Mahima Das, the fourth person present during the incident who reportedly escaped. He alleged that the Forest and Police Departments may be withholding information regarding this key witness.
