Viking expands Egyptian fleet with new Nile river ship

Viking has expanded its Egyptian fleet with the delivery of a new river ship designed specifically for Nile River navigation. The vessel, identified as the Viking Sekhmet in one report and the Viking Hathor in another, was delivered during a ceremony at a shipyard in Egypt.

The ship features signature Scandinavian design, including a square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace. It is equipped to host guests in outside staterooms while providing access to various historical sites, such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, and various temples in Luxor and Aswan.

These vessels will serve itineraries including the Pharaohs and Pyramids route and a new Total Eclipse on the Nile itinerary scheduled for 2027. Viking continues to plan significant fleet expansions, including the delivery of additional river, ocean, and expedition ships through the early 2030s.
