Viking expands Nile fleet with new Viking Sekhmet ship
Viking has expanded its Nile river cruise fleet with the introduction of the Viking Sekhmet. The ship, named after an ancient Egyptian goddess, was delivered at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt. The vessel features a Scandinavian design, a square bow, and an Aquavit Terrace, and is capable of hosting 82 guests across 41 cabins.
Travel advisor Michael Consoli has been selected as the godfather of the Viking Sekhmet. Consoli, the owner of Cruise Planners – Michael Consoli & Associates, has been recognized as Viking’s top global-producing travel advisor for ten consecutive years. He will participate in the official naming ceremony in Amsterdam on October 15.
The Viking Sekhmet will operate itineraries including the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids and a new 12-day Total Eclipse on the Nile route scheduled for 2027. This addition brings Viking’s total number of Nile-focused river ships to ten.
