Viking expands river cruise fleet with seven new ships
Viking has announced the expansion of its river cruise fleet through the simultaneous naming of seven new ships. The ceremony, held in Amsterdam and virtually connecting locations across Europe and Egypt, honored industry leaders and travel advisors who served as godparents for the vessels.
The new ships include the Viking Rota, Viking Haki, Viking Halogi, Viking Sjofn, and Viking Ptah, which will sail itineraries along the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers. Additionally, the Viking Sekhmet is scheduled to begin sailing on the Nile River in 2027, while the Viking Fjolvar will explore the Seine River.
The Viking Rota, a new luxury Longship, is designed with Scandinavian interiors and accommodates up to 190 guests in 70 staterooms and suites. It is scheduled to commence its inaugural passenger cruise on 18 October 2026, traveling the Rhine Getaway route from Amsterdam to Basel.
