Ávila forest fire prompts Soria and Segovia fire brigades to assist

The severe forest fire affecting the Burgohondo/El Tiemblo area of Ávila province triggered a national emergency declaration. The fire service of Soria deployed a professional crew and a heavy urban fire engine, routing the unit from the Soria fire station to the advanced command post in Navaluenga. Their priority is to protect populated zones at the urban‑forest interface and to safeguard homes while maintaining full coverage in Soria itself.

Segovia’s fire department also sent teams, including a forest vehicle and a support vehicle, to join more than a hundred responders at the Navaluenga command post. Working through the night, Segovian firefighters focused on cooling the fire perimeter and defending nearby villages, operating in eight‑hour shifts as the blaze continues to challenge containment efforts.

Both municipalities coordinated closely with the regional civil protection agency and the Junta de Castilla y León, reinforcing the multi‑agency response required to manage one of the most serious wildfires in the region in recent hours.
