Vila Galé launches new urban resort in Pernambuco, Brazil

Vila Galé, a Portuguese hotel group, announced the opening of its first urban resort in Pernambuco, the Vila Galé Reserva do Paiva Lifestyle Resort Hotel in the planned neighbourhood of Cabo de Santo Agostinho. The resort is slated to open on 15 October 2026 and will generate about 100 direct jobs. Together with recent openings such as the Novotel Recife Marina and the City Express by Marriott hotel, the new property is expected to create more than a thousand jobs in the state.

The development repurposes the former Sheraton building, preserving its structure while adding four pools, a children’s water park, a heated spa pool and a refurbished beach‑club. Vila Galé president Jorge Rebelo said the resort will attract family‑oriented, summer‑tourism clientele and noted that the chain is already seeking a historic building in Recife’s centre to repeat the model.

The investment arrives amid a record 87 % rise in international tourists to Pernambuco in the first five months of the year. The state now operates 13 international routes to ten destinations in seven countries. Vice‑governor Priscila Krause said, “Pernambuco today consolidates as the hub of the Nordeste… we have 13 international routes… connecting us with almost all continents,” underscoring the role of air connectivity in the region’s tourism push.
