Vila Viçosa submits UNESCO World Heritage candidacy

Vila Viçosa has officially submitted its candidacy dossier to become a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Mayor of Vila Viçosa, Inácio Esperança, met with Henrique Sim-Sim, Vice-President of CCDR Alentejo, to deliver the “Vila Viçosa – Sede Ducal” application and discuss ongoing heritage valorization projects and management plans.

Additionally, the town is preparing for the traditional Festas dos Capuchos. The upcoming celebrations include a performance by the “Alma Calipolense” children's group scheduled for September 10 at the Largo dos Capuchos coreto.
