Villa de Álvarez announces Federico Cárdenas Barajas painting contest winners

The Mayor of Villa de Álvarez, Tey Gutiérrez Andrade, announced the winners of the “Federico Cárdenas Barajas” National Painting Contest. Organized by the Villa de Álvarez City Council in coordination with the University of Colima, the competition commemorates the centenary of the birth of the painter, photographer, actor, and writer.

Estíbaliz Valdivia Gallardo, participating under the pseudonym Donna with the work “Retablo de los lamentos,” secured first place. Second place was awarded to Héctor Miguel Guerrero Aburto (pseudonym Miguelín) for “Atardecer Orgánico,” and third place went to Marco Aurelio Rodríguez Vizcaíno (pseudonym MARVizc) for “Obelisco Amarillo."

In addition to the contest, commemorative activities included a discussion regarding the work “El salinero salado.” Efforts are also underway to digitize three of Cárdenas Barajas’s books, and a painting exhibition is scheduled for October.
