Villa Monastero wins CITY’SCAPE Landscape Award 2026

The redevelopment project of the Villa Monastero botanical garden in Varenna has received a special prize in the category of ‘Parks and gardens of historical, artistic or landscape interest’ at the CITY’SCAPE Landscape Award 2026. The international recognition was presented during a ceremony at the Triennale di Milano on September 18.

Funded by Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) and implemented by the Province of Lecco, the project was completed in December 2024. The intervention focused on restoring stylistic cohesion between botanical and sculptural heritage, enhancing botanical diversity, improving accessibility, and increasing energy and water efficiency. The project aims to protect the cultural and landscape value of the site while improving public access.
