Villa Vie Residences to launch Legacy residential cruise ship by 2029

U.S.-based Villa Vie Residences, which began operating the residential cruise ship Odyssey in autumn 2024, announced that its next vessel, named Legacy, will join the fleet in early 2029. The company plans to grow the fleet to three ships, adding the former Holland America Line vessel MS Veendam – now known as Aegean Majesty and laid up in Aigio, Greece – after a substantial refurbishment.

Founder Mike Petterson said the Odyssey proved that long‑term living on a cruise ship can be sustainable, and that the Legacy represents a “consistent evolution” of the model now that more than 85 % of Odyssey cabins have been sold. A second new ship, the Lumina, converted from the former Seven Seas Navigator, is slated for service in early 2028 under the Avora Residences brand.
