Villena Museum theft: Three reports recommended 24-hour security
A municipal investigation commission in Villena has revealed that three separate security reports had previously recommended 24-hour surveillance for the Villena Museum (MUVI) prior to the theft of Bronze Age treasures in August.
During the second session of the commission, PP spokesperson Miguel Ángel Salguero identified the reports as follows: an assessment by Tomás Jiménez, former head of security at the Alicante Archaeological Museum (MARQ); a security audit commissioned by the City Council; and a report from the Regional Police. Salguero argued that the local government should have exceeded minimum regulatory requirements to ensure adequate protection.
The investigation continues as officials seek documentation regarding the museum's security infrastructure, including reports from the museum director and evidence concerning the armored nature of the cameras and display cases used during the incident.
