Europol has noted an increase in such crimes, identifying museums as high-priority targets for itinerant criminal gangs across Europe. Political pressure has mounted in the Valencian region. The PSPV-PSOE group in Les Corts Valencianes has formally requested a hearing with the Minister of Culture, Carmen Ortí, and the regional Secretary of Culture, Marta Alonso, to address security failures. José Chulvi, the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson for Culture, argued that current security protocols are ‘obsolete and not sufficient for new assault techniques.’ Additionally, the PP has requested a hearing with the Mayor of Villena, Fulgencio Cerdán, to clarify the security measures in place during the August 27 robbery.
