In celebration of International Teacher's Day, Vilnius has honored outstanding educators through the Vilnius Teacher of the Year awards. Mayor Valdas Benkunskas recognized teachers for fostering student confidence, curiosity, and responsibility. Recipients of the Teacher of the Year and leadership awards received a personalized exlibris, a mayoral thank-you note, and a gift valued at 1,000 EUR.

Justina Bortkevičienė, a primary school teacher at the Volungė kindergarten-school, was named Teacher of the Year for her creativity, social and civic activity, and innovative professional work. Ivona Pavlovska, a teacher-methodologist at the ‘Vilija’ preschool, was also honored for her initiative in implementing new educational methods in a multilingual environment.

The city of Vilnius continues to support educators through various initiatives, including funding pedagogical studies, providing free public transport for all city teachers, and offering special access to museums, theaters, and sports activities during the week of Teacher's Day.
