Vilnius police investigate child psychiatrist over discrimination claims

Vilnius police have launched a pre-trial investigation into L. Slušnys, a child psychiatrist working at Santaros Clinics, following allegations of discrimination and failure to provide aid to a minor.

The investigation stems from an incident where the psychiatrist reportedly refused to communicate with a child in Russian. According to the State Child Rights Protection and Adoption Service, the minor was in a deep crisis and their life was at risk. While the psychiatrist suggested that accompanying officials should translate, they did not provide services in a language the child understood.

Authorities are investigating potential violations of the Criminal Code, including non-performance of official duties, incitement against a group based on nationality or language, discrimination, and failure to assist a person in danger. Santaros Clinics stated that an internal review found no legal violations in the doctor's conduct.
