VinFast expands EV market presence in Vietnam and India
VinFast is experiencing significant growth and expansion across multiple markets. In Vietnam, the company has played a central role in the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), which are projected to account for 40% of new car sales by 2025. The International Energy Agency (IEA) highlighted VinFast’s impact, noting that its affordable models, such as the VF 3 and VF 5, have been key drivers in reaching mass-market consumers.
In India, VinFast reported a nearly 50% increase in EV retail sales in August 2026, reaching 2,199 units. This growth occurred even as the broader Indian EV market saw a monthly decline. The company is actively expanding its presence in India, with production of the VF 6 and VF 7 underway at its Tamil Nadu plant and new design registrations for the VF 6 and VF 9.
Domestically, VinFast continues to dominate the Vietnamese market, reporting over 20,000 EV deliveries in August. The company is also preparing to introduce new models, including the VF Wild, a pickup truck rumored to be an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), with potential deposits starting in September.
