VinFast files India design patent for Viper electric scooter
VinFast Trading and Production Joint Stock Company filed a design patent in India on 30 April 2026 (Design No. 500341‑001) for a new electric two‑wheeler, identified as the VinFast Viper or an updated version. The patent shows a sporty maxi‑scooter style with LED headlamps, telescopic front fork, twin rear shocks, alloy wheels and a 3 kW hub motor, claiming a top speed of 70 km/h, a 1.5 kWh fixed battery (range ≈ 82 km) and an optional secondary pack.
The filing signals VinFast’s plan to expand beyond electric cars into India’s large two‑wheeler market, where rivals such as Ola Electric, TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Hero already compete. The company is already pursuing an Indian strategy for electric SUVs (VF 6, VF 7) and local manufacturing, and the scooter could broaden its urban‑mobility presence if pricing, battery performance and service support meet market expectations.
