VinFast launches new-generation VF 8 electric SUV in Vietnam

VinFast unveiled the next‑generation VF 8, a D‑segment electric SUV, at a press event in Hanoi on May 21, 2026. The model, positioned as the first VinFast vehicle to receive a full redesign, adopts a new "Tech Fluid" design language with sharper lines, a black‑gloss front grille, larger air intakes and a reduced overall size (4,701 mm × 1,872 mm × 1,670 mm, wheelbase 2,840 mm). Inside, the cabin now features a 12.9‑inch central infotainment screen, a secondary driver‑information display behind the steering wheel, dual‑zone climate control, air ionisation, and an eight‑speaker audio system.

Technically, the VF 8 is built on a new chassis platform with adaptive Frequency Selective Dampers on both axles, a centrally‑located vehicle computer that runs a Software‑Defined Vehicle architecture, and a front‑motor powertrain delivering 228 hp and 330 Nm torque across three drive modes. The battery capacity is 60.13 kWh, providing an estimated range of up to 500 km per charge. The vehicle retains a five‑seat layout, 19‑inch wheels and offers features such as a virtual assistant supporting Vietnamese dialects. Pricing is positioned to be more attractive than the previous generation, though certain amenities like heated seats and a panoramic roof have been removed.
