VinFast expands electric vehicle presence in Vietnam and India
VinFast and the broader electric vehicle market are seeing significant activity in Vietnam and India. In Vietnam, the 7-seater vehicle segment is growing, with nearly 50,000 units sold between January and July 2026. This growth is driven largely by MPVs and electric models, with the VinFast Limo Green and VinFast MPV 7 leading sales. Additionally, affordable electric options under 700 million VND, such as the Wuling Mini EV and VinFast VF 3, are becoming increasingly common for urban commuters.
In India, VinFast has surpassed 7,000 retail sales within eleven months of entry, placing it among the country's top five electric carmakers. While much of this volume is supported by ride-hailing fleets, the company is aggressively expanding its footprint. This includes a commitment of up to $2 billion in investments and operations at its Tamil Nadu plant. As the industry shifts toward software-defined vehicles, VinFast is also focusing on securing specialized talent in AI, battery technology, and software to compete with both traditional automakers and tech giants.
