VinFast patents facelifted VF 5 electric SUV in India

Vietnamese automobile manufacturer VinFast has registered a patent for a facelifted version of its VF 5 electric SUV in India. The model has previously been spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads.

Visual updates to the vehicle include a reprofiled front bumper, a new bonnet, and redesigned headlamps that sit lower on the fascia. The alloy wheels also feature a fresh design. While some elements like the shark-fin antenna and blacked-out pillars remain, the rear may see a transition from a split taillight setup to a single-piece design, accompanied by a revised rear bumper.

Interior reports suggest a more upright dashboard design and a larger, freestanding infotainment screen that replaces the conventional instrument panel. The powertrain is expected to remain unchanged, featuring a 37.23kWh battery pack and a single electric motor producing 93bhp, offering an estimated range of 260km. The VF 5 is expected to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV.
