VinFast plans Level 4 autonomous taxi trials in Vietnam

VinFast intends to test a fleet of 200 Level 4 autonomous taxis at the Vinhomes Green Paradise urban area in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, by the end of 2027. This deployment is subject to approval from relevant authorities.

To support this initiative, VinFast is collaborating with government agencies to establish controlled testing mechanisms, safety standards, and operational training procedures. The company previously announced a strategic partnership in June 2026 with NVIDIA and Autobrains to develop autonomous driving technology for the Southeast Asian market. This technology utilizes the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion 10 computing platform combined with Autobrains' Agentic AI software, which employs specialized artificial intelligence agents to manage complex driving tasks.

Under the SAE International classification, Level 4 autonomy allows vehicles to operate entirely without human intervention within specific, pre-defined geographic areas or conditions. If the system encounters a situation beyond its capabilities, the vehicle is designed to execute a safe stop.
