VinFast reaches 1 million electric motorcycle sales as Vietnam market surges

Vietnam's motorcycle market, the world's fourth‑largest, is accelerating its shift to electric two‑wheelers. 2026 sales jumped 20 % year‑to‑date, reaching 1.57 million units, driven by a government ban on internal‑combustion engines slated for mid‑2026 and rising fuel prices. Leading manufacturers such as Honda saw modest growth, while electric specialists, particularly VinFast, expanded rapidly.

VinFast announced that it has sold a cumulative one million electric motorcycles, a milestone achieved eight years after the launch of its first model, the Klara. The company sold 406,453 electric motorcycles in 2025 and now offers around 15 models across more than 30 variants, including sport‑oriented bikes planned for 2027. It is expanding its dealer network in Vietnam and abroad to Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Thailand and Malaysia, and is constructing a second electric‑motorcycle factory in Ha Tinh to meet growing demand.
