VinFast registers new electric scooter design for Indian market

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast has filed a design‑patent application in India for a new electric scooter that closely resembles its Viper model sold in Vietnam. The prototype features a distinctive bird‑wing styled LED daytime running light, a lowered VinFast logo, revised front mudguard, and new side panels. Technical specifications include 14‑inch alloy wheels, a two‑seat saddle, flat footboard, rear footrest, a rear‑mounted 3 kW (4 hp) motor, a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of about 82 km using a fixed 1.5 kWh battery, with an optional 1.15 kWh auxiliary pack extending range by roughly 74 km. Existing Viper components such as the TFT screen, smart key, and disc brakes are retained. VinFast has not confirmed whether the design will be exclusive to India or released globally, but the company plans to launch electric two‑wheel models – Evo, Feliz II and Viper – in the Indian market. VinFast already sells electric cars in India and is building a manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. In Vietnam the Viper is priced at VND 39.9 million (≈US 1,600) with a lease‑battery option, rising to VND 45.5 million if the battery is purchased.
