VinFast secures 1,500‑car taxi order and advances European electric bus program
Vietnamese automaker VinFast signed an agreement with local taxi operator Taxi Huong Giang for 1,500 electric cars, aiming to replace its internal‑combustion fleet and expand its EV presence to over 2,000 vehicles. The order may include the Minio Green, Herio Green, Limo Green and EC Van models, priced between 8,700 and 16,200 euros and offering NEDC ranges from 175 km to 450 km. The deal is linked to ride‑hailing platform Green SM, owned by Vingroup chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, and will be rolled out across Bac Ninh province.
VinFast is also targeting the European commercial‑vehicle market, developing revised 12‑metre and new 8‑metre battery‑electric buses. Head of Commercial Vehicles Diego Ghirardi highlights a new electrical architecture that reduces components, weight and assembly time, building on technology first used in VinFast passenger cars. While 90 % of its commercial‑vehicle production serves the domestic market, the company is positioning itself for export contracts in European cities and domestic contracts with Vietnamese operators such as VinBus.
