VinFast unveils VF Wild pickup with EREV technology
VinFast has officially unveiled the production version of its VF Wild pickup truck, marking the company’s first entry into the pickup segment. Originally showcased as a fully electric concept at CES 2024, the production model utilizes an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) architecture to better suit market needs.
The VF Wild features a 46.4 kWh LFP battery pack and a 160 kW electric motor that drives the wheels. A gasoline engine acts solely as a range extender to charge the battery during travel, allowing for a total driving range of over 1,000 km. The vehicle is expected to offer a pure electric driving experience for the first 250 km (NEDC) before the internal combustion engine engages.
Positioned as a competitor to vehicles like the Ford Ranger, the VF Wild is a mid-size pickup with a payload capacity of 750 kg and features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. High-end versions may include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and larger 20-inch wheels. In Vietnam, the model is expected to be priced starting around 860 million VND (approximately 29,000 EUR).
