Vingroup's $5.6 billion high-speed railway project enters environmental assessment

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the $5.6 billion Hanoi-Quang Ninh high-speed railway project, invested by Vingroup, is currently undergoing community consultation. The project is expected to begin operations by the end of 2028.

Logistical details revealed in the report indicate that construction materials, including concrete, cement, steel, and underground cables, will be sourced from suppliers in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. To optimize economic efficiency, suppliers will be selected based on proximity, with an average transport distance of approximately 20 km to construction sites.

Construction will require diesel fuel from local gas stations and water for worker living quarters, dust suppression, and concrete mixing stations. The project involves nearly 60 types of machinery and equipment, all of which must be at least 85% new and undergo quality inspections by the investor and construction units before use.
