Vinh Hung urban redevelopment project planned in Hanoi
Authorities and urban planning experts are discussing a large-scale redevelopment project for the Vinh Hung area in Hanoi, covering approximately 450 hectares. The initiative aims to transform the area from a fragmented landscape of narrow alleys and aging infrastructure into a modern urban center.
Currently, Vinh Hung faces significant challenges, including narrow residential lanes measuring only 3 to 4 meters wide, which hinder emergency vehicle access and cause frequent traffic congestion. The area also suffers from a lack of public parks, green spaces, and organized schools, alongside environmental issues related to unplanned drainage and waste management.
The proposed redevelopment includes major infrastructure upgrades, such as a 60-meter wide boulevard and the planned Cu Khoi Bridge, to improve connectivity with Long Bien and other eastern districts. Under Hanoi’s long-term 100-year vision, Vinh Hung is designated as part of the capital's eastern development pole, intended to serve as a modern commercial and service hub to reduce pressure on the inner city.
