Vinh Long province mobilizes resources for poverty reduction

Vinh Long province has achieved significant results in mobilizing social welfare resources through the “For the Poor” Fund and various social security programs. Between October 2025 and September 30, 2026, the provincial mobilization committee collected 156.5 billion VND for the fund. Additionally, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations mobilized over 711.2 billion VND from other sources to implement social welfare initiatives.

One notable initiative is the “Accompanying Orphaned Children” model, which provides monthly support of 500,000 VND to 40 children in need across several communes, including Hoa Binh, Tra Con, Hieu Thanh, Hieu Phung, Mo Cay, An Dinh, Huong My, and Dong Khoi, until they reach age 18. Nguyen Thi Tuan Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Vinh Long province, noted that there are currently more than 4,000 orphaned children in the province, many of whom face severe material and spiritual hardships.

These resources have been converted into practical support, including housing, livelihoods, medical care, and educational assistance for hundreds of poor and near-poor households, helping residents stabilize their lives and work toward sustainable poverty reduction.
