Brazil Fans Clash in Pernambuco After World Cup Elimination

Following Brazil's exit from the World Cup, multiple fights broke out in Recife and other parts of Pernambuco. Fans engaged in physical assaults inside bars and restaurants, and the unrest spilled onto the streets. Videos show punches, kicks and a victim being immobilized with a chokehold known as a "mata‑leão," after which he collapsed on the sidewalk. In the interior of the state, vandalism was reported, including the destruction of themed decorations and a television being smashed on the pavement. Authorities have not released information on injuries, arrests, or official reports at the time of reporting.
