Violence Erupts at Delta State APC Stakeholders Meeting in Effurun

A clash broke out at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre in Effurun, Delta State, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta Central leaders and stakeholders meeting. Videos circulated on social media showing assaults on individuals including Simon Mudi, Tempo – an aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori – and journalist Kofa Kingsley. The Delta State Government condemned the incident, with Commissioner for Works and Public Information Charles Aniagwu ordering security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible. The APC’s Delta State chapter, represented by State Publicity Secretary Valentine Onojeghuo, rejected allegations made by former Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo‑Agege that the party orchestrated the violence, calling the claims politically motivated and false. The party emphasized that the meeting was broadcast live and remained peaceful until the outbreak. Both the government and the APC pledged to uphold law and order while investigations continue, though no arrests had been confirmed at the time of reporting.
