Violence in Gaziantep results in death and injury

Two separate violent incidents occurred in the Gaziantep province of Turkey, involving family and community disputes.

In the Nizip district, a fight that began among children escalated into a large-scale confrontation involving adults. Security camera footage captured women and men engaging in physical altercations. The conflict escalated to the use of weapons, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Murat Y. and injuries to four other individuals. Authorities are investigating the incident.

In the İslahiye district, a dispute over olive groves between an uncle, identified as S. Y. (61), and his nephew, B. Y. (41), turned violent. S. Y. shot his nephew in the foot. During the incident, the uncle reportedly attempted to prevent bystanders and medical teams from assisting the injured man, as captured in a mobile phone video. The nephew was hospitalized, and the uncle was taken into custody by gendarmerie forces.
