Violence reported in Chile and Mexico involving homicide and assassination

In Chillán, Chile, a court has ordered preventive detention for Félix Hernández Ocares, who is accused of the homicide of Jorge Gutiérrez Martínez. The incident occurred on October 3 in the Lomas de Oriente II sector. According to investigators, the victim was approached and attacked with a sharp weapon, sustaining a fatal chest wound. Hernández was apprehended by the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police following an investigation.

In Veracruz, Mexico, Jorge Guerrero García, the former mayor of Otatitlán (2014-2017), was assassinated in an armed attack. The incident took place on Sunday, October 11, at the El Cedral restaurant in the Papaloapan Basin region. Armed men reportedly intercepted Guerrero García during the evening. The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation through the Cosamaloapan Regional Prosecutor's Office to determine the circumstances of the ambush.
