South American regions report surge in violent crime and armed robberies
Various violent criminal incidents have been reported across South America, involving armed robberies, shootings, and physical assaults.
In Chile, a man is in critical condition after being shot twice during a wedding celebration in Estación Central after a dispute regarding building entry. In Peru, a resident in San Martín de Porres successfully fought off an armed thief attempting to steal a cellphone during a confrontation in broad daylight.
Argentina has seen several violent crimes, including an armed home invasion in Mendoza where a woman and a man with a disability were assaulted, and a robbery in City Bell where five armed individuals threatened a couple during a power outage. Additionally, shootings in the Roca area resulted in the death of a 19-year-old, and a man in Punta Mogotes narrowly escaped being shot during an attempted robbery by individuals on a motorcycle.
