Violent armed robberies reported in Guyana and Jamaica

Two separate violent incidents involving firearms have been reported in Guyana and Jamaica.

In Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Region Six, Guyana, two men, Gordon Gomes and an individual known as “Troy”, sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during an attempted robbery at the Easy Corner Bar and Boutique. Two masked attackers targeted a group of men, reportedly focusing on an individual wearing jewelry. Following a brief confrontation and a struggle, the attackers fled the scene on foot without obtaining any property.

In Trelawny, Jamaica, 25-year-old taxi operator Mark Williams has been charged with multiple offenses, including robbery with aggravation, burglary, and possession of a firearm with intent to injure. The charges stem from a July 23 incident in Wakefield, where Williams and an accomplice allegedly held a man at gunpoint. During the robbery, the victim was struck in the head with a firearm. The suspects fled with an iPhone and a Toyota Voxy, though police later recovered the vehicle. Williams was identified following an identification parade, while police continue to search for his accomplice.
