Violent attacks and shootings reported in Ecuador and Peru

In Ecuador, a series of armed attacks in the El Oro province resulted in three deaths between October 3 and October 4. In Machala, 24-year-old Gilbert Rolando Apolo Cifuentes was shot and killed near a liquor store, and 24-year-old Paúl Andrés Chila Rivera died after being shot while talking with acquaintances. In Santa Rosa, 18-year-old Keyton Vicente Rosario Cedeño was also killed in a shooting. The National Police are investigating the motives and the identities of those responsible.

In Peru, Andrés Zuñiga, a leader of a mototaxi company, was shot and killed in the Carabayllo district of Lima. The attack occurred near the local municipality while the victim was cleaning his vehicle. Security footage captured a suspect approaching and firing at close range before fleeing on a motorcycle. Authorities are investigating the possibility that the murder is linked to extortion.
