Violent Homicides Strike Bahia Cities of Jequié and Dias d'Ávila

In Jequié, three separate killings were recorded within three days. A 16‑year‑old male was shot dead near a local car wash, a 27‑year‑old was shot during a home invasion on Saturday, and a 37‑year‑old man was killed after his house was attacked on Sunday. Local police investigators from the Civil Police, Military Police and Technical Police responded to each scene, but no suspects have been identified and motives remain unclear.

A separate case in the metropolitan area of Salvador involved the discovery of a 22‑year‑old man’s headless body on the side of highway BA‑093 near Dias d'Ávila. Identified as Lucas Mattos Campos, he was allegedly decapitated with a machete after being abducted while returning from work. Authorities suspect a criminal faction operating in the municipality was responsible, though no arrests have been made.
