Violeta centers launched in Mexico and Ecuador to aid victims of gender violence

The municipal government of Tlalnepantla, Mexico, deployed mobile "Unidad Violeta" cells in neighborhoods with the highest rates of gender‑based crime. The units operate twice a week, offering social work, psychological counseling and legal advice, and are supported by the State Gender Police when protection measures are needed.

In Ecuador, the new "Centro Violeta" was inaugurated in the canton of Chambo. The center provides free legal, psychological and social assistance to women victims of gender violence. The opening was attended by Minister of Government Nataly Morillo, Chimborazo Governor María José del Pozo, assembly member Keevin Gallardo and other provincial officials. Both initiatives are part of national policies aimed at preventing and responding to violence against women.
