Romanian police seize Buricea crime clan assets, arrest 26 members

Prosecutors in Romania conducted a large‑scale operation against the Buricea organised‑crime group operating in Brăila and Galaţi. Twenty‑two members, including the clan leader Marian Buricea, were taken into preventive detention and presented to the court with a proposal for 30‑day arrest. The raid resulted in the seizure of more than €0.5 million worth of cars, a €100 000 boat, valuable jewellery and approximately €100 000 in cash. Authorities executed 29 search warrants and seized additional property from the leader’s mansion and members’ residences. The defendants face serious charges such as attempted murder, extortion, human‑trafficking, and money‑laundering.

The operation involved the police, special‑action units and helicopters, and highlighted the continued fight against entrenched organised‑crime networks in the region.
