Virginia International Raceway hosts IMSA Michelin GT Challenge

The Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) has seen significant activity across multiple IMSA racing classes. In the GTD PRO category, Frederic Vervisch set the fastest practice time in a Ford Racing Mustang GT3, while Lamborghini driver Andrea Caldarelli secured the first pole position for the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 at the track in nearly a decade.

In the GTD class, Frederik Schandorff led the session in an Inception Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO. The event features a field of 54 cars, focusing on the Grand Touring Daytona Pro and GTD classes while the GTP and LMP2 prototype classes take a scheduled break.

In the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Jaxon Bell secured the pole position for the Grand Sport (GS) class driving a Koch-Copeland Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2. The TCR field will be led by a Hyundai. The weekend's competition includes various challenges, such as championship leader Neil Verhagen experiencing a practice session incident that resulted in a repaired BMW M4 GT3 EVO but the loss of his fastest qualifying lap.
