Virginia launches digital driver's license support in Apple Wallet

Virginia has become the 15th U.S. state to support digital driver’s licenses and state IDs within the Apple Wallet app. Residents with compatible devices, including iPhone 8 or later and Apple Watch Series 4 or later, can now add their credentials by scanning their physical IDs and following onscreen verification steps.

Digital IDs in Apple Wallet can be used at select TSA checkpoints across more than 250 airports in the United States, including Baltimore/Washington International, Ronald Reagan Washington National, and Washington Dulles International.

Other states currently offering this feature include Arizona, Maryland, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio, Hawaii, California, Iowa, New Mexico, Montana, North Dakota, West Virginia, Illinois, and Arkansas. Several other states, such as Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Utah, are reportedly planning to adopt the feature in the near future.
