Virovitica hosts Czech Culture Days celebrating heritage and tradition

The Czech Culture Days, a two-day event organized by the Czech Beseda of Virovitica-Podravina County, took place in Virovitica on September 11–12. The manifestation aimed to showcase Czech heritage through language, folklore, tradition, and gastronomy.

The event commenced on Friday with an exhibition of creative works by members of the Czech Beseda, featuring items such as Czech crystal jewelry, floral motifs, and traditional folk costume patterns. On Saturday, the program included the ‘Sijelo pod Lipom prijateljstva’ (Gathering under the Friendship Linden Tree) and an Old Czech fair held in the courtyard of the Pejačević Palace.

Participants enjoyed traditional culinary specialties, including bramborake (potato pancakes) and langoše, alongside Czech draught beer. The cultural program featured dance and drama performances from various Czech Beseda groups from Rijeka, Zagreb County, and Kaptol, as well as the KUD Virovitica folk ensemble.
