Cultural festivities in Virovitica

Overview

The city of Virovitica has hosted a series of cultural and traditional celebrations. In August, the city marked its 792nd anniversary with the Rokovo festivities, which included the VIROLIBER book fair, the Virokreativa crafts fair, and various sporting competitions such as the Rokovo Cup. The anniversary program also featured traditional games for Croatian veterans and retirees under the motto ‘Together in war – together in peace’.

Following these celebrations, Virovitica hosted the Czech Culture Days on September 11–12. Organized by the Czech Beseda of Virovitica-Podravina County, the event showcased Czech heritage through language, folklore, and gastronomy. Activities included exhibitions of Czech crystal jewelry and traditional folk patterns, an Old Czech fair at the Pejačević Palace, and culinary offerings such as bramborake and langoše. The event concluded with dance and drama performances by various Czech Beseda groups and the KUD Virovitica folk ensemble.
