Visegrád Group leaders meet in Bratislava to coordinate EU policy

Leaders of the Visegrád Group (V4)—comprising Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, and Poland—met in Bratislava to coordinate positions ahead of upcoming European Union summits. The meeting aimed to revitalize the alliance to address shared regional concerns.

Key agenda items included the EU’s next seven-year budget, agricultural subsidies, regional economic disparities, energy prices, and migration policy. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš expressed support for the renewed cooperation, credited to Péter Magyar, and voiced opposition to the Green Deal, arguing it harms industrial competitiveness. Babiš also warned of security risks regarding potential Russian aggression.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar emphasized migration as a primary concern and noted the need for coordinated action against rising energy costs. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico declared that the V4 is once again active, while Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted the need to restore the group's former authority.
