Vishay Intertechnology launches high-frequency CHEP series chip resistors
Vishay Intertechnology has launched the Sfernice CHEP series, a new line of thin film chip resistors designed for high-frequency RF and microwave applications. Utilizing an aluminium nitride substrate for enhanced thermal conductivity, these resistors are available in compact 0402 and 0603 surface-mount footprints.
The series is engineered to provide high power density in small packages. The 0402 size features a standard power rating of 1.2 W, which can increase to 1.8 W with recommended mounting, while the 0603 size offers a standard 1.8 W rating that can reach 2.8 W. Frequency capabilities vary by mounting style: the 0402 version supports up to 50 GHz with flip-chip mounting and up to 20 GHz with wraparound terminals, while the 0603 version supports up to 40 GHz.
Designed to minimize parasitic effects, the resistors feature LC values as low as 1×10⁻²⁴ to reduce noise and impedance variation. These components are intended for use in telecommunications and connectivity infrastructure, including 5G and 6G networks, low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, base station terminals, and aerospace or defense systems.
