VisitScotland publishes first guide to Outlander filming locations in Scotland

VisitScotland, in partnership with Sony Pictures Television, released a 40‑page guide titled "Scotland: The Home of Outlander" that lists 48 filming locations used across all eight seasons of the series. The guide also contains a timeline of related Scottish history, sections on Gaelic language, tartan, clans and a feature on Scottish food and drink compiled by medical herbalist Claire Mackay.

The launch forms part of a wider tourism campaign marking the series’ final season, which concluded in May 2026. A £160,000 digital campaign targeting U.S. audiences generated an estimated £790,000 in hotel bookings and about 8,500 flight searches to Scotland. Four carriages of the Caledonian Sleeper train were wrapped with Outlander imagery and a limited print run of the guide is being offered to passengers on those trains. Screen Scotland estimates that Outlander‑related screen‑tourism contributes roughly £161.4 million to the Scottish economy.
