Guardia di Finanza dismantles Spain-to-Rome drug trafficking ring

The Guardia di Finanza has dismantled an international drug trafficking organization operating between Spain and the Roman coast. Coordinated by the Velletri Prosecutor's Office, the investigation resulted in the seizure of over 400 kilograms of hashish and marijuana.

The operation began in May 2025 following a roadside check in Nettuno, which led to the arrest of a courier and the seizure of 3 kilograms of drugs. Subsequent investigations revealed a sophisticated supply chain using specially modified campers equipped with false bottoms and hidden compartments to transport narcotics under the guise of tourist travel.

Law enforcement intercepted a 100-kilogram shipment at the Ventimiglia highway barrier and, through international cooperation, located a second major shipment of 300 kilograms of marijuana in France. The crackdown led to four arrests in flagrante and six total precautionary custody orders for individuals involved in the smuggling and local distribution networks.
