Vitória FC members contest Tavfer partnership agreement

Members of Vitória FC are contesting a partnership contract with the club's main sponsor, Tavfer. During a General Assembly in late July, the ratification of the agreement was removed from the voting agenda following a request from members who argue the document is detrimental to the club.

Club president Francisco Alves Rito defends the deal, stating it is essential for paying tax debts, strengthening the insolvency plan, liquidating a 2.7 million euro mortgage on the Vale do Cobro lands, and securing medium-term financing for sports activities. He maintains the agreement is valid and was presented for ratification to ensure transparency.

Conversely, critics such as former candidate Fernando Belo and the ‘Movimento Pró Vitória’ group question the contract's legitimacy. They argue the agreement is unbalanced and could lead to third-party interference in sports management, which may result in penalties from the Portuguese Football Federation.
